A one-day, in-person certification in the ShapeFX® Method for licensed bodyworkers. Small group and hands-on correction, with Lena Fontaine, RMT and founder of ShapeFX®.
The ShapeFX® Method of Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage is grounded on a responsibility to my clients to deliver a session that positively impacts their health; and more than that, a responsibility to the ShapeFX® graduates to confidently empower their own practices with knowledge.
Five years ago, almost nobody in North America had heard about Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage. Only a handful of practitioners in Canada knew what it was, and none of them was an RMT.
My clients were looking for a treatment that went beyond the surface, something that would truly make them feel better from the inside out. I could see the esthetic devices were not delivering true wellness.
That’s what drew me to Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage. I looked high and low for a course that would deliver more than choreography. Something that was anatomically grounded. I needed to bring excellence to my clients.
After much consideration, I decided to take my first course. I was scared to invest $500 when I didn’t have them, and completely lose that money. The massage worked, but I didn’t understand much. So I learned Portuguese and travelled for the second course. Then the third… fourth… fifth. At some point they all started to look identical. No scientific basis whatsoever. That’s when I went back to the clinical lymphatic drainage books, the myofascial techniques, the hormonal and intestinal anatomy. Slowly, the work started making sense and after 1,000+ sessions, the ShapeFX® Method was born.
What you're looking for is the one addition to your menu that clients talk about. Something you can confidently provide your clients, knowing they will refer and re-book.
Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage does that. The demand is already there, and it isn't coming from marketing. Clients are asking for it by name.
Nowadays, almost anyone has decided to call themselves a “trainer” or “educator”. There are so many now, and from the outside they look alike. You're being asked to choose between courses based on marketing alone, and to be right the first time, because your clients will feel the difference during their session.
The stakes are high, because it’s not only your investment, but your reputation on the line. Rather than tell you myself, I’d like to show you what the graduates are saying.
These are the lymphatic vessels in the abdomen.
Notice on the right side, the superficial lymphatics are just beneath the skin and above the abdominal muscles. They're responsive to manual work, and that’s what's taught in every MLD and BLD course.
The deeper abdominal vessels (circled in red) are behind the organs, closer to the spine than to the skin. These are the vessels most inter-connected to the digestive system. However, there is no way to manually access them without hurting the organs.
Our breath-guided peristaltic and diaphragmatic sequences are designed to access further into the abdomen, resulting in a deeper release.

I left a corporate job for a wellness practice that's since treated over 1,000 clients and trained therapists across Canada. But I promise you, none of it came easy.
In my first year as a business owner, I spent $60,000 on body-sculpting equipment, certain it would sell itself. Instead, it gave me an empty calendar and a feeling of dread. To the point that I would get palpitations, and I thought I actually had heart problems.
I finally put the machines away (they're still in my basement) and found Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage instead.
My first BLD course got me four clients in a week. Soon after, I had a month-long waitlist. But that first course only taught me half of what I wanted to know. I learned Portuguese, took eight more courses, flights to Brazil and Europe before I learned the other half.
Now I'm teaching the knowledge collected across those courses, research trips, reading articles, and over 1,000 client sessions.
The ShapeFX® graduates are the ones who have taken my method beyond my wildest dreams: growing from solo to clinic owners, saving their businesses from the brink of closing, making $100k the first year out of school. They are the ones inspiring me to teach and keep growing.
This course is specifically designed for RMTs, any non-RMTs taking this course must have significant prior massage education and experience.
There are 3 hours of online self-study before the class. The in-person portion is one day, 8 hours. After graduating you will have lifetime access to the online course for technique review.
No, students will practice on each other to know what it's like.
Only a pen to take notes is needed.
Certainly not. The ShapeFX abdominal sequence is evidence based, and includes peristaltic and diaphragmatic breathing techniques not found in other courses.
You're welcome to join any future classes for free for a year if you feel you still need more practice.
